Barbara Ann Corcoran

 Barbara Ann Corcoran (born March 10 1949) is an American businesswoman, investor and speaker. She is also a consultant, speaker writer, syndicated columnist, television host, and author. The Corcoran Group is a New York-based real estate brokerage. In 2001, the company was sold to NRT at $66 million. Corcoran resigned from the company shortly after. Corcoran was a participant in 12 of ABC's Shark Tank seasons. Corcoran has signed 53 deals until February, 2020. Her largest deal was her $350,000 investment in Coverplay with a 40% stake. Corcoran was born in Edgewater, New Jersey, the second child of 10 in a middle class Irish-Catholic family. Florence, her mother was a homemaker. Edwin W. Corcoran Jr. Her father was constantly switching jobs throughout Corcoran's entire life. At times, the family relied upon free food delivery from a nearby grocery store. Corcoran says that her father was a drunk who did her mother a disservice and condescension. Corcoran was a struggle in school, and eventually discovered that she had dyslexia. Corcoran attended the local Catholic elementary school before beginning the high school system at St. Cecilia High School in Englewood. Corcoran who was in the process of failing numerous classes in her first year of high school, was transferred to Leonia High School. There she received a grade of D.
